The canadian shape is one of our favorites and with good reason. With a well designed canadian you receive all the benefits normally afforded any long shanked pipe but gain the additional style and strength of an oval shank. Canadians are typified by a long shank of briar meeting a shorter tapered stem. When you are playing with proportions in pipes you can then create these variations that place them slightly outside the norm but still comfortably within the realm of classic British design. The oval shank billiard is just such a pipe. If you shorten the shank a bit and lengthen the stem, making them somewhat equal in length to each other you find that proportion used most often in the typical billiard. In this case the only difference is length and shank shape. Hence, the oval shanked billiard. Most of the classic marques had a version similar to ours and I am pleased to offer it, in this slightly longer, version.
